FREESTYLE DANCE CO. TEAMS
Teenies
Ages 3-5
Beginning
Tinies participate in 45 min. of class per week. The Teenies 1 class is at BFHS and Teenies 2 is at the Ironwood/Ocotillo Studio. During their class they will be taught ballet technique, flexibility, and performance routine in two different dance genres. They will have the opportunity to participate in two community events, a December recital and an April recital. They have an option of participating in the beginning tumbling class to gain strength, flexibility and acrobatic skills.
Tinies
Ages 4-6
Beginning
Tinies participate in 45 min. of class per week. This is the 2nd and last class held at the Ironwood/Ocotillo Studio. During their class they will be taught ballet technique, flexibility, and performance routine in two different dance genres. They will have the opportunity to participate in two community events, a December recital and an April recital. They have an option of participating in the beginning tumbling class to gain strength, flexibility and acrobatic skills.
Ages 6-8
Beginning - Advanced
Minis
We divide Minis into a Mini Prep class (for beginning-intermediate) and a Mini Elite class (for advanced dancers).
Mini Prep participates in 1 hr 15 min of class per week.
Mini Elite participates in 1 hr 30 min of class per week.
Their class time is dedicated to technique, performance and choreography. They will benefit from the same opportunities as our tiny class but with more intricate skills and routines. They too have the opportunity to attend beginning or intermediate tumbling depending on their level. This is the age where they really begin to discover their love for dance!
Juniors
Ages 9-11
Beginning - Advanced
We divide Juniors into a Junior Prep class (beginning), Junior Elite class (intermediate) and Youth Company (advanced ).
Junior Prep participates in 2 hrs of class per week. They will be encouraged but not required to take the tumbling classes offered this year.
Junior Elite participates in 3 hrs of class per week. They will be required to take the tumbling classes offered this year.
Youth Company participates in 3 hrs of class per week. They will also be required to take the tumbling classes offered this year.
One hour is dedicated strictly to technique. The remaining time will be a fusion of tech and performance choreography. Junior Elite and Youth Co. will have many performance opportunities to compete as a team. The competing teams are a perfect preparation for our Senior competing teams.
Teens
Ages 11-14
Beginning - Intermediate
Teens participate in 2 hrs of class per week. During their class they will be taught ballet technique, flexibility, and performance routine in two different dance genres. They will have the opportunity to participate in two community events, a December recital and an April recital. They have an option of participating in the beginning tumbling class to gain strength, flexibility and acrobatic skills.
Seniors
We divide Seniors into a Senior Elite class (for intermediate-advanced) and a Senior Company class (for advanced dancers).
These are our most advanced groups. Auditions are required. They are required to take 3 hrs/week of class and encouraged to take 1 hr/week of tumbling. One hour of class is dedicated strictly to technique. The other 2 hours will be a fusion of tech and performance choreography. They compete in a more competitive division and will be expected to perform and compete around the community and take a leadership role at FDC. They will be pushed with a quicker pace, difficult skills and challenging choreography.
Ages 12-18
Intermediate - Advanced
Hip Hop
Youth - ages 7-11
Teen - ages 12-18
Each group takes just one hour per week and works on an athletic, rhythmic, groovy number for each of our recitals and competition. A simple, straightforward, fun option on its own or in addition to one of our other teams.
Pom Technique
Ages 12-18
This is a new class we are offering for those who are interested in trying out for Pom Teams. Class will be 1 hr per week. They will focus on technique in turns, jumps, leaps, and hip hop tricks!
